We are craftsmen with over 14 years of experience building fine homes in the Bay Area. With backgrounds spanning art, design, furniture and planning, the Superbuilt team brings a holistic perspective to construction. This foundation allows us to lead large, diverse teams effectively, translating complex building systems into homes that feel intentional, soulful, and built to endure.
The company is rooted in a commitment to delivering an exceptional client experience through clear communication, thoughtful collaboration, and meticulous project management. We believe that well-run projects are as important as well-built ones, prioritizing transparency, responsiveness, and trust at every stage of the process.
Superbuilt approaches each project with care, curiosity, and respect for craft—creating spaces that are not only technically stunning, but meaningful places to live.
Ian Cox
Founder & PrincipalIan has been a lifelong builder–started crafting at a young age, and later went on to honing his practice at the Maryland Institute College of Art, where he learned everything from tree felling, green woodworking, running the woodshop, metal fabrication, plaster casting, to color theory.
Settling in San Francisco after college, Ian produced large scale public art projects. While managing and producing these projects, Ian also went on to build homes in the Bay Area, placing everything from foundation, framing, to finishes.
Most recently, Ian spent over a decade as the senior project manager for a local prestigious builder, where he managed teams executing a wide variety of projects ranging from ground up estates in Napa to complex remodels in San Francisco.
